“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart.” — Carl Jung

In this part of the journey, The High Priestess invites us to do exactly that — to turn inward, to listen, and to trust what we find there.

In the last post, we met The Magician. If the Magician shows what we can create in the outer world, the High Priestess reminds us to listen to the inner one.

Now, our hero encounters The High Priestess, who embodies the quiet power of intuition and the divine feminine.

The High Priestess in Tarot: A Card of Intuitive Wisdom

On the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, The High Priestess sits between two pillars marked B and J. Behind her, a veil decorated with pomegranates separates the seen from the unseen. A crescent moon rests at her feet, and in her hands she holds a scroll inscribed with the letters T-O-R-A.

Her headdress recalls the Egyptian goddess Hathor — showing the waxing, full, and waning phases of the moon.

She is the Divine Feminine — a channel between the earthly and the spiritual, connected to the realms of gods, goddesses, angels, and guides. Her flowing blue cloak, the water, and the sky all remind us of her domain: stillness, intuition, and the subconscious.

The High Priestess teaches that we can all access our intuitive wisdom by getting still and listening.

When she appears in a reading, it’s an invitation to trust your inner knowing — to pause, to breathe, and to listen to the quiet voice within.

She’s also a card of mystery and timing. The keeper of secrets.
She speaks only when the moment is right, and she knows that not everything must be shared before it’s ready.

If you’ve ever shared a dream too soon and met doubt or disbelief, The High Priestess is your reminder to protect what’s sacred until it’s ready to bloom.

She encourages us to connect with our higher self, our guides, and the spiritual world — to discern the answers that can’t be found through logic alone.

My Personal Journey with The High Priestess

I’m going to share something deeply personal — because sometimes, the cards become mirrors for our most private moments.

A few years ago, I found out I was pregnant. My husband and I told no one, wanting to see how things would unfold.

During that time, I turned to my tarot deck for guidance — pulling cards almost every day, maybe more. Over and over again, The High Priestess appeared.

It was as if she were whispering: Slow down. Listen. Be still. Stop doing so many readings.

Soon after, I experienced a miscarriage.

In the aftermath, I realized she had been preparing me — asking me to rest, to stay quiet, to trust what I already knew deep inside.

I cleared my schedule, journaled, and allowed myself to heal — guided by intuition rather than logic.

That’s the gift of The High Priestess: she reminds us that even in heartbreak, our intuition can guide us toward healing, wisdom, and peace.

The High Priestess Chakra Connections

The High Priestess aligns closely with two chakras, both connected to intuition and higher wisdom.

  • The Third Eye Chakra — the seat of inner sight and psychic awareness.
  • The Soma Chakra — a subtle point between the Third Eye and the Crown. Sometimes called the “Fifth Eye,” it connects our soul to higher realms while keeping us anchored in the body.

Some say the Soma Chakra has a color; others say it doesn’t. Some call it a main chakra, others a minor one. The truth is — intuition will tell you what resonates. Explore, research, and trust what feels aligned for you.
