Art Funky is more than a business. It’s an extension of how Cynthia moves through the world: learning, making, experimenting, solving problems, and following interesting questions wherever they lead.

A technologist, designer, filmmaker, artist, writer, and lifelong learner, Cynthia has spent much of her career moving between creative expression and technical problem-solving. Art Funky is where those different ways of thinking get to live under the same roof.

Where It Started

Cynthia’s professional journey began far from web design, in the classroom teaching Spanish. Even then, she was weaving creativity and technology together, developing lessons, experimenting with digital tools, and leading technology workshops for fellow educators. In 2011, she shifted from dabbling with digital work to pursuing it professionally, beginning with SEO content writing and building her first WordPress website in 2012.

That experience launched her into the world of web design and digital technology. Over the years, she immersed herself in WordPress, theme customization, e-commerce, HTML, CSS, social media, email marketing, hosting, digital infrastructure, and the increasingly complicated systems that make websites work.

Her creative toolkit expanded alongside her technical one. She studied graphic design, branding, photography, and videography and became proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD, and Premiere Pro.

In June 2022, Cynthia officially launched Art Funky after years of freelancing and working with clients ranging from small businesses and e-commerce companies to schools and nonprofits.

Two Sides of the Same Practice

Today, Art Funky encompasses two sides of Cynthia’s work.

Through digital design and WordPress consulting, she helps organizations build, manage, troubleshoot, and make sense of their digital presence. She intentionally keeps her client list small, allowing her to understand the organizations she works with and build lasting relationships rather than simply completing transactions.

Through film, art, writing, and other creative experiments, she explores transformation, creativity, mythology, philosophy, nature, spirituality, and the endlessly strange experience of being human. Her work has included contemplative films, archetypal storytelling, tarot, meditation, mandala art, illustration, and whatever subject has currently captured her curiosity.
