Art Funky invites people into contemplative practices that help them return to wholeness through creativity, nature, and the wisdom of the tarot.

Founding Art Funky

Cynthia Calhoun (she/her) is the founder of Art Funky, a one-woman creative and spiritual studio devoted to documenting and exploring human transformation through art, storytelling, symbolism, and contemplative practice.

Her work lives at the intersection of creativity, the study of the human condition, and inner experience. She is fascinated by the ways people make meaning from their lives through archetypes, rituals, journeys, nature, and the stories we tell ourselves as we grow and change.

Long before Art Funky existed, Cynthia was drawn to these questions. Her academic background, years of meditation practice, and extensive work with the Tarot all reflect a lifelong curiosity about transformation. These are not simply ideas, but something lived and experienced.

Today, that curiosity finds expression in many forms. Through cinematic films inspired by the Tarot’s archetypal journey, hand-drawn and digital mandalas, chakra meditations, intuitive readings, writing, and visual design, she explores the universal patterns that connect our inner and outer worlds. Rather than treating these as separate disciplines, Cynthia sees them as different languages pointing toward the same mystery: how we become more fully ourselves.

It is the perennial search for wholeness.

Art Funky began in 2022 as a creative design studio, crafting thoughtful websites and visual identities for small businesses that value authenticity and meaningful connection. While that work continues, her work has grown into something broader. It encompasses creative practice that documents both personal and collective transformation through film, art, and contemplative experiences.

Cynthia brings an eclectic background to her work, including a Master’s degree in Romance Languages and K-12 Education, multiple undergrad degrees including a B.A. in Anthropology, a Fine Art minor, experience leading technology workshops, along with years of professional work in web design, graphic design, videography, WordPress development, Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, CSS, WooCommerce, and digital marketing. These technical skills provide the foundation for expressing ideas that are deeply human.

Whether she’s creating a film about a tarot archetype, designing a visual identity, guiding a meditation, drawing a mandala, or sitting across the table from someone seeking clarity through tarot, Cynthia approaches every project with the same intention: to create and hold space for reflection, imagination, and transformation.

Collaboration

Alongside her original work, Cynthia collaborates on select creative storytelling projects with individuals, organizations, and fellow artists who are exploring themes of transformation, purpose, or the human journey.
