The tarot is more than a deck of cards — it’s a symbolic map of our lives. Each of the 22 Major Arcana cards represents an archetype and a stage of the Hero’s Journey.
In this series, I’m walking through each card one by one, beginning with The Fool — the card of leaps, new beginnings, and faith in the unknown.
The Fool in Tarot: A Card of Beginnings
The Fool is the very first card of the Major Arcana, numbered “0″. Zero is not emptiness — it’s potential. It represents the blank canvas, the fresh start, the infinite possibility of what could be.
The Fool is often depicted as an adventurer, lighthearted and optimistic, standing at the edge of a cliff. He’s ready to leap — not because he has all the answers, but because he trusts the path will unfold as he walks it. He's naive, though, and will learn much on his journey.
As I create each video in the series, I'm creating a drawing of me acting out the overall meaning of that particular tarot card. Perhaps it will turn into a deck…or it will be a fiasco as Joseph Campell says. I'm learning the program ProCreate to digitally create these images from photos I take while filming.
This card shows up when you are called to take a leap of faith.
My Leap Into the Unknown
Right now, The Fool reflects my own life. I’ve recently pivoted to bring together all my creative and spiritual skills into my business — video-making, tarot, healing practices, art, web & graphic design — into one path.
It isn’t the “safe” road. I don’t have thousands of subscribers or a massive email list. I’m just now beginning to focus on content creation — I'm a fledgling creator, building something new step by step.
But that’s exactly the spirit of The Fool: showing up, taking action, and moving forward even when the outcome is uncertain.
