Rainbow Community School has been a client for many wonderful years and when it was time to update their website, they approached me for this task. Rainbow's site is a large site, and very active and so a redesign needed to be mindful of a constant volume of traffic, live donations, registrations and more.
Rainbow Community School Mission
We develop accomplished, confident, and creative learners who are prepared to be compassionate leaders in building a socially just, spiritually connected, and environmentally sustainable world.
Goal
Rainbow Community School needed a website redesign and update on their WordPress site.
Approach
With a live website and many people involved in the redesign process, Cynthia designed two concepts for the school in Photoshop. She was then able to provide a link to both concepts so that multiple stakeholders would weigh in with their comments, changes and the elements they liked.
Once stakeholders chose their preferred design, Cynthia was able to start getting to work updating the live site. This involved translating the design elements from Photoshop to its equivalent on WordPress using the Divi Theme and framework.
Results
At the end of the project, the website redesign was live, and fully implemented. Because the site is large, Cynthia continues to use the original template to update secondary pages.
Tools used for this project:
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Illustrator
- Divi Page Builder
- WordPress CMS
The image on the left above shows what the old website looked like. The two images on the right were the two design concepts Cynthia presented to RCS stakeholders. They went with Design A.
This web design project necessitated working on many different pages of the website. With each page updated, stakeholders needed to weigh in, give feedback and all that was incorporated into the overall design.
This project entailed using the school's desaturated color palette and logos, as well as their specific font and logos. Additionally, checking for mobile readiness was essential. It will be an ongoing process to complete even more website pages.
