BZora

BZora is a non-profit website I created once the Executive Director of CultureValue realized she needed a non-profit website to go with her business website. In 2022, I created CultureValue for this client and she enlisted my help again to create this new non-profit website.

I am not tech savvy and generally don’t enjoy tech issues but Cynthia made the process fun. She was able to really get to the heart of my vision for the website and the organization, and create a beautiful website. She was thorough and insightful and proactive. Both the final product and the process of getting there were amazing!

Goal

My task was to design a new non-profit website that accepts donations. I also designed a logo and brand kit for BZora.

Approach

We met and determined that she still needed a logo and had some brand colors in mind. I created some logo ideas for her in Adobe Illustrator and determined possible color palettes based off the purple and orange colors she wanted the website to have.

From there, I also created an entire brand kit: I created logos of varying sizes and types (jpg, png, pdf), in grayscale and desaturated. I created website assets using the color palette I had come up with and put it all together in a branding folder complete with hex codes, RGB values, fonts, text color, website backgrounds, and more. Additionally, I created different versions of letterhead for use both online and offline. I also created round versions of the logo for use in tighter spaces or in circular avatar images, such as in email. Finally, I created horizontal banners for the website to accommodate different uses, such as for event headers or in spaces that had more horizontal space than vertical space.

After creating the logo, I set to work designing the website itself. After choosing a web hosting company, I created a WordPress site, and installed the Divi page builder. I activated all necessary plugins, including a plugin to secure donations for the website. I set Nunito as the universal site font, and input all hex codes to set those colors for the site at a universal level.

I always work on the home page first, since that is what determines what the rest of the website will look like. Together with the Director, I had a list of sites for inspiration, and set out to create a design that would highlight the good work that BZora is doing. I added a number of backgrounds and design elements to make this site come to life.

Results

In all, I created seven pages to convey the mission and vision of BZora, including an events page that lists all upcoming events related to BZora.
